With Mother’s Day a few weeks away and the shops already heavily marketing Mother’s Day, I thought I would indulge myself by compiling a ‘list’ of all the things I would LOVE for Mother’s Day. There’s no price restrictions or practical boundaries – this is the ultimate luxury wish list. And why not? Let’s have a bit of fun! 🙂Starting from the small…
1. Diptyque candles
Love this French personal and home fragrance brand. Luscious divine smelling candles. Would love to have a whole range of their candles. Retails for USD$60 for standard candles, USD$90 for coloured ones. They are sold through Mecca Cosmetics in Australia for $99.
2. Mason Pearson hairbrush
The rolls royce of hairbrushes, the famous rubber cushioned hairbrush from Mason Pearson has been around for over 100 years. Now given this is my ultimate Mother’s Day gift wishlist, I can put down a $200 hairbrush right?? Having a quick look around, I think Peters of Kensington is the cheapest.
3. Burberry check scarf and trench
I’m a sucker for classics so I can’t go past a classic Burberry checked cashmere scarf. Love the classic check print and while you’re at it, might as well ask for a Burberry trench coat as well. USD$395 for the scarf and USD$1495 for the trench.
4. Chanel No. 5
Classic. Need I say more? Except that horrible Brad Pitt advert just ruined it for me! Oh and Eau du Parfum please, none of this toilette stuff. Anywhere between $160 to $205 depending on where you look. Better still, buy it duty free or overseas.
5. La Mer skincare
How about some good quality skincare products to help fight the signs of ageing (more like premature ageing for me with the constant fighting with the kids). I would never buy these myself but it would make great Mother’s Day presents! The La Mer skincare regime starting from the cleanser, then toner, moisturizer and finally the serum will no doubt leave mum’s skin glowing and youthful! Just don’t look at the price tags!
Now we get to the bigger items… with the slightly bigger price tags..
6. A fancy dress..
Every girl needs a fancy dress for a fancy occasion. We as mums don’t get to dress up often enough so when you do, you want to be wearing a fabulous dress, the one that is the jaw dropper, the show stopper. So many to choose from I had such a hard time narrowing it down!
7. Hermes Birkin
You all know Hermes is the pinnacle of handbags. Well, if you’re going to get one, might as well get one in exotic leather – more than the price of a lot of cars (think between $40,000 – $60,000), it will last you a lifetime and no doubt be the envy of everyone.
8. Statement jewellery
Just because you’re a mum tending to screaming children and some days you can barely make it out of your PJs, it doesn’t mean you don’t deserve fancy jewellery. There will be an occasion to wear it and it sure will be a great investment!
Hello blue box with white ribbons 🙂
Price? Don’t ask. All I’ll say is there’s 6 figures for most of the items. Check out the Tiffany & Co facebook page for picture after picture of drool-worthy jewellery.
9. Escape to paradise..
Wouldn’t a week away to some of these places just be the perfect Mother’s Day present? No kids of course! I can stare at these pictures and daydream the day away….
Sheraton Nha Trang, Vietnam
Fregate Island Hotel, Seychelles
Bedarra Island Resort
Hotel le Toiny, St Barts
Hotel LeSirenuse, Amalfi Coast
Hotel Wakaya, Fiji
Ok so if you can’t get to any of those places, then the next best thing might be this..
The book is call ‘Where Are You?’ by travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler. Every month, the magazine includes a “Where Are You?” contest wherein readers have to guess the pictured location based on cryptic clues and each monthly winner wins $1,000 and is entered into the annual grand prize drawing for a $10,000 holiday. This book features 100 of these stunning, mysterious locations so you can not only test out your knowledge but also give you some great idea for your next travel adventures! USD$65 from Assouline, which by the way, is a great store full of luxury books that will make great presents or sophisticated coffee table ‘decoration’.
It’s good for the soul to take a break and let your mind wander without thinking too much and this post allowed me to do that and I had loads of fun writing this post! Happy Mother’s Day to all you fabulous mums out there!
